“Design must reflect the practical and the aesthetic in business but above all…good design must primarily serve people."Thomas Watson
Having the right structure can save your business time and money. Corporate+ can assist you in selecting a structure that best suits the way you want to operate your business.
We think of structure in terms of:
- Foundations (the legal structure) and
- Frameworks (your management, organisational/internal structures).
Foundations
Commercial
The four most commonly used business structures in Australia are:
- Sole traders
- Partnerships
- Companies
- Trusts – discretionary (family) and fixed (unit)
There are also very specific legal structures for Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).
Below are links where you can find out more information on each type of business or entity structure:

Business Structures – Partnerships
Business Structures – Private Companies
Business Structures – Discretionary Trusts
Business Structures – Fixed Trusts
Business Entities - SMSF
Part of our approach is to discuss with you which of these entity types is best suited for your current and foreseeable activities noting that different structures may be required for different purposes. We can assist with changes to existing structures where appropriate to meet the changing need of your business. As in any structure, the right foundations will serve you well for a long time so it is important to make an informed, considered decision.
Not for Profit
The most commonly used Not for Profit structures in Australia are:
- Incorporated Association
- Company Limited By Guarantee

Frameworks
Commercial
Whilst the foundations of a business, once established rarely change, the day to day operations need to be dynamic and responsive to the requirements of the business in its market place. Growing and changing businesses need different levels of assistance when responding to growth opportunities and market conditions. For example, for some business the transition from Bookkeeper to an in-house accountant is too large. We are able to assist by providing external business manager (accountant) services that are cost effective whilst the business continues to grow, then transition to back internal resources when the business has reached the appropriate level. We can also refer through a network of people/providers to assist in marketing and business development.
Not for Profit
The framework of a Not for Profit entity is vital to its success. Although the entities’ aim is not focused on profit, it is all about the most optimal resource utilisation that enables the achievement of the aims. We have helped entities in a variety of ways including regular consulting advice - where an in-house accountant is not yet required, but benefits are gained from regular top level checks on financial information and processes. To being the preferred consultants when the current financial resources don’t or cant stretch to a job or task. We have also been involved in reviews or healthchecks of an entities financial framework, ensuring they are as efficient and effective as they can be.
